But I can say that my thoughts and prayers\nto $DEITY are with him and his family at this time, and I don't\nexpect him to be rushing back to git work tomorrow. However I'm\nquite certain that Junio will return when he can.\n\n\nLars Hjemli has done a terrific job of stacking up patches from the\nmailing list in his \"q/*\" branches, available for fetching directly\nfrom his tree at [*1*]. I really want to thank Lars for stepping\nup and doing this, as I think it has helped the community.\n\nUnfortunately there were quite a few q/* branches, some of which\nwere not trivial to merge against the other topics that were already\npending in Junio's next. Someone really needed to go through the\nbranches and merge them together into suitable maint, master and\nnext branches.\n\n\nI've decided to step up and try to fill Junio's shoes. To that end\nI am publishing a maint, master, next (and soon) pu branch from a\nnew fork on repo.or.cz:\n\n gitweb: http://repo.or.cz/w/git/spearce.git\n git: git://repo.or.cz/git/spearce.git\n http://repo.or.cz/r/git/spearce.git\n\nTraditional \"What's in\" messages will be sent in a minute. I'm\ngoing to try to apply the exact same policies that Junio applies\nto these, so maint/master/next won't rewind, but pu may.\n\nI based my branches on top of the last items published by Junio,\nand am hoping that he will be open to pulling directly from these\nbefore he starts working again. Junio obviously has the option\nnot to pull from me, but if I do my job of interim maintainer well\nI can probably talk him into it. :)\n\nI won't be publishing a tagged release from maint or master anytime\nsoon. Primarily because I don't think its time to do that, and also\nbecause I don't have a kernel.org account to upload the tarballs to.\nIf a month goes by without Junio, well, lets just see what happens.\n\n\nI probably don't need to say this for the git regulars, but you\ncan start to track my published branches yourself with git-remote\nif you are interested in testing and/or using these versions:\n\n $ git remote add -f spearce git://repo.or.cz/git/spearce.git\n $ git pull spearce master ; # or next\n\n\n\n*1* git://hjemli.net/pub/git/git\n\n-- \nShawn.\n"},{"id":"56206","messageId":"20071017063132.GA458@soma","threadId":"10304","inReplyTo":"20071016055448.GA13801@spearce.org","subject":"Re: A note from the interim Git maintainer","fromName":"Eric Wong","fromEmail":"normalperson@yhbt.net","sentAt":"2007-10-17T06:31:32Z","receivedAt":"2007-10-17T06:31:32Z","isPatch":false,"sender":{"key":"e@80x24.org","avatar":null},"body":"\"Shawn O. I originally skipped over Benoit's changes as I hadn't see\nanything from you on the subject. But I have now cherry-picked them\nfrom your bogomips git-svn tree into spearce/master.
